  • SlipGuard™ specialises in the application of floor surface treatments for internal and external floor surfaces that become slippery when contaminated with water and other types of liquid. Injuries to customers, employees and the public, caused through slips, increase dramatically when such conditions exist.

Our aim is to provide the most effective anti-slip floor surface treatments with professionalism and courtesy; and with minimal disruption to our customers business operation.

SlipGuard™ operates throughout the UK and has allied operations in the USA and Caribbean. Our treatments are used by a diverse range of commercial sectors that include the leisure, hotel, transport, healthcare, retail and social services industries. In short, wherever there's the potential for contaminated floors to occur, that could prove hazardous to a persons health and well being.

More often than not floors are open to pedestrian traffic within twenty minutes. The average application time is 50sq. meters or 500sq. feet per hour.

The application of anti-slip treatments is highly specialised. Our on site managers and operatives are fully trained in application techniques and whilst on site, will provide you with the very best service and advice, possible.

Slips and trips consistently account for around 1 in 3 non-fatal major injuries, and for over 1 in 5 over-3-day injuries in workplace areas throughout Great Britain, a total of at least 35,000 injuries per annum; one serious slip accident every 3 minutes.

The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 states; 'It shall be the duty of every employer to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all his employees. Slip and fall accidents account for one third of all serious accidents at work. Employers should therefore ensure all floors are safe and should monitor the slip resistance of floors and monitor changes to slip risk.'

The Workplace Regulations 1992 state; 'The law requires that floors in a workplace must not be slippery, holed, sloped, or uneven, so as to expose any person to a risk to their safety.'

Any business' safety procedures should include regular monitoring of floors and it should test all new floors and changes to floors. Slip risk and monitoring floor slip resistance should be a part of a businesses risk assessment procedure. Research by the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) on behalf of HSE has shown that a combination of factors can contribute to slip accidents.

  • Anti-Slip Treatments & Anti-Slip
    Cleaning Products

    Treatments
SlipGuard™ sources products from one of the world's leading manufacturer's and distributor's of anti-slip floor treatments and floor cleaning products, which enables us to offer the most suitable and best performing products on the market.

The specialist anti-slip products that SlipGuard™ apply will increase the Coefficient of Friction properties of many floor surfaces, particularly when contaminated by water and other liquids.

If treated floor surfaces are not regularly cleaned with the correct cleaning agents or grease or dirt is allowed to build up, the floor could return to a hazardous state. The specially formulated cleaning agents SlipGuard™ supply are specifically designed as an aftercare cleaning treatment for treated floors.

The application of anti-slip treatments is a highly specialised process. Our site managers and operatives are fully trained in application and aftercare techniques. Whilst on site, they will all provide you with the very best service and advice, possible.

SlipGuard™ anti-slip treatment is not a coating that will wear off, it does not require time to cure and, if required, can be applied during opening hours – even in areas with high foot traffic such as retail stores.

    Features & Benefits:

    • Suitable for stone surfaces including ceramic, quarry tile, terrazzo, granite, marble, concrete, slate, porcelain etc.
    • A clear solution that will not noticeably alter the colour of the surface.
    • The treatment creates a micro tread of tiny dimples so when your foot lands on the tile surface they act like little suction pads to stop your foot moving.
    • Treatments increase co-efficient of friction on floor surfaces to meet and exceed minimum UK Slip Resistance Group Guidelines - Issue 3.
    • Lasts for years if correct cleaning agents are used.
    • Not a coating that will wear off.
    • Works on the bottom of swimming pools.
    • Can be put into service immediately.
    • Easy to maintain.

    Cleaning Products
SlipGuard™ don't just offer any floor cleaners and degreasers, but anti-slip cleaning products that actually increase grip under foot!

The build up of contaminants and poor floor maintenance are two of the major factors that increase the slipperiness of floor surfaces increasing the risk of slip hazards.

The effectiveness of the cleaning cycle and more so, the effectiveness of the cleaning product used, is vital to the success of any SlipGuard™ anti-slip programme. Conventional cleaning products perpetuate a vicious cycle. In fact they can cause surfaces to accept certain types of soil and dirt more readily.

SlipGuard™ cleaning agents are ideally suited for daily cleaning of treated floors. Our broad range includes specialised cleaners that can increase grip on most types of floor coverings.

    Features & Benefits:

    • Highly concentrated.
    • No leftover residues.
    • Will return surfaces close to their original ‘ionic balance'.
    • Specific products leave a 'slip resistant' resin residue as part of the cleaning cycle.
    • No sticky residues - resulting in floors that stay cleaner longer.
    • Encourages lower static - resulting in floors that stay cleaner longer.
    • Increased slip resistance as part of the cleaning cycle.
    • High concentrate leading to greater coverage.

  • SlipGuard™ assess the slip resistance of a floor's surface in both dry and contaminated conditions. We identify a floor's surface type and select the anti-slip product best suited for that floor type. We then apply a treatment to a small, inconspicuous, area of the floor. The increased slip resistance is then measured to highlight the increased Coefficient of Friction, in both dry and contaminated conditions.

Following an on site test, a comprehensive 'Slip Risk Assessment Report' is produced and copies are distributed to all relevant personnel within 48 hours. The results form a scientific measure of floor safety. Our report will include all slip resistance results for the areas tested. Floor areas that show cause for concern, that are found to be hazardous or to become hazardous when contaminated, are highlighted.

SlipGuard™ conducts all tests using a SlipAlert™ ramp style monitor. SlipAlert™ is the only machine to have been specifically designed to correlate with the Pendulum test, which has been the proven method for measuring the slip resistance of flooring, for many years.

The Health & Safety Laboratory commented: 'It is suggested that SlipAlert™ should be regarded as a good indication of available friction, lending itself to risk assessment, monitoring of floor surfaces and evaluating & monitoring cleaning regimes.'
